Throw-off times of the 2019 World Championship announced

After the TV partner for Germany was announced last week (public stations ARD and ZDF), now the full match schedule of the 2019 Men’s World Championship is completed. The International Handball Federation IHF published the full schedule on Wednesday. The German team will have their opening match against a unified Korean team on 10 January 2019 at 6:15 pm local times in Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, while the Danish team will have their first match on the same day at 8:15 pm in the Royal Arena Copenhagen against Chile.

The dates of both the Danish and the German matches of the preliminary round in Herning and Berlin and the potential main round matches at Herning and Cologne have been confirmed before, now all throw-off times are known: On Saturday, January 12, at 6:15 pm the German hosts face Brazil, followed by the matches against Russia (Monday, January 14, 6 pm), World Champions France (Tuesday, January 15, 8.30 pm) and finally against Serbia (Thursday, January 17, 6 pm). The Danish host have their remaining matches of preliminary round group C in Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning all at 8:15 pm local times against Tunisia (12 January), Saudi Arabia (14 January) and Norway (17 January), the only exception is the match against Austria on 15 January, which starts at 8:45 pm.

In case of the main round berth, Denmark will have their main round matches in Herning all at 8.30 pm. In case of qualification, Germany will have their upcoming matches in the LANXESS arena Cologne on Saturday, January 19, at 8.30 pm, Monday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 23, both at 6 pm.

The semi-finals in Hamburg on Friday, 25 January, will be thrown-off at 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm, the medal games in Herning on Sunday, 27 January, start at 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

The preliminary round group B matches in the Olympiahalle and group D matches in Royal Arena usually start at 3:30 pm, except Sunday, January 13, when the first throw-off in Munich is at 2:00 pm, to have a family-friendly start. All venues will offer designates fan zones in or in front of the arena including a special entertainment programme and handball activities.
