Draw for the Men’s WCh 2019 will take place in Copenhagen
The beautiful Town Hall of Copenhagen will be the setting when the exciting draw for the IHF Men’s World Championship 2019 in Germany and Denmark will take place on June 25th at 12.30.
The joined hosts Denmark and Germany hope to see the international media at the event, where the very special mascot of the Championship – which for the first time ever has been created by a fan in a crowdsourcing process – will be presented at the same time.
During the draw 24 teams will be put into four groups. 12 of the 24 participants of the event are already confirmed:
Hosts: Denmark and Germany
World Champions 2017: France
European Champions 2018: Spain
Participants from Africa: Tunisia, Egypt, Angola
Participants from Asia: Qatar, Bahrain, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia
Wild Card: Japan
Nine participants will be found in the European playoffs which will be carried out from 8th to 10th and 12th to 14th of June. The matches stand between:
Serbia vs Portugal
Lithuania vs Iceland
Czech Republic vs Russian Federation
Slovenia vs Hungary
Belarus vs Austria
Fyr Macedonia vs Romania
Netherlands vs Sweden
Norway vs Switzerland
Croatia vs Montenegro
The final three spots for Ger/Den 2019 will be decided at the Pan American Championship, which will take place in Nuuk, Greenland, from 16th to 24th of June.
Tickets for the event are available online on www.handball19.com in cooperation with the experienced ticketing partners, CTS Eventim in Germany and Ticketmaster in Denmark.
The venues for Germany/Denmark are Herning, Copenhagen (Denmark – where Sport Event Denmark is a partner), Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne and Munich (Germany). The finals will take place in Herning’s Jyske Bank Boxen, where preliminary round, knock-out matches and finals at the 2015 Women’s World Championship were held. The semi-finals will be played at Hamburg’s Barclaycard Arena, which already hosted the 2017 Women’s World Championship finals.
